THE HEART OF THE WORD INCARNATE:
by Dennis J. Murphy, MSC (
2003 ed.   159 pp.   Rs.95.00)

Teilhard de Chardian claimed that the origin of his ideas about the universe began from infancy through devotion to the Sacred Heart. Karl Rahner also claimed that he discovered a central point in his theology through the devotion. Neither of them was referring simply to a form of piety but to a way of understanding God and the whole of reality. Father Dennis Murphy shows how this was possible by reflecting on the writings of a little known French parish priest, Jules Chevalier (1824-1907). This is not an invitation to visit a museum - interesting perhaps, but irrelevant. Much less is it an invitation to stay there. The past cannot be repeated; it has no monopoly on enlightenment; neither has the present, a fact that always becomes evident within a relatively short period of time. But the past can throw light on the present and in this way help us take new steps more surely. Nor is there any need for us to imitate practices of the past: but a sympathetic understanding of them can help us see ourselves today in a better perspective, and enable us to make wiser judgments about what we are doing or not doing. The book is written in such a way that one can begin at any chapter and to some extent at any paragraph. This facilitates browsing and reflective reading.

RELIGIOUS LIFE & MATURITY:
by Ignatius Puthiadam, S.J:
(2000 ed.    254pp.    Rs 130.00)

In the Church, the religious are supposed to be persons who aim at maturity, both as human beings and as Christians. That is why we call the religious, persons who tend to perfection. In reality, this statement may appear a bit too idealistic because the facts do not tally with it. So it may be good that we reflect on the meaning and nature of maturity, as also on the process, the difficulties, the psychological and theological factors connected with human and Christian perfection. This book is primarily meant for the religious so that they can meditate on their own lives and see how they are progressing on the way of the Lord. While the title of the book is "Religious Life and Maturity", all could use this book profitably if they are desirous of walking on the path of human and religious growth, which is really the path of the Lord.

MISSION, MYTH & MONEY - In a Multicoloured World:
by Jules Gomes: (
2003 ed.    122 pp.    Rs.45.00)

In the third millennium, the mantle of mission has fallen on the suffering world. India today sends out the highest number of missionaries, second only to the U.S.A. Yet the Indian Church confines mission almost entirely to within her national borders and hesitates to widen her missionary horizons to encompass the whole world. Meanwhile, Indian missionaries of other faiths enjoy immense success in the Western world as they propagate their own religions to a post-Christian West. While challenging Indian Christians to reach out to this post- Christian West, this book explores the qualitative demise of Christianity in the Anglo-American world. It traces the Western dominance of global mission through three major periods of world history and investigates why churches in India and other parts of the suffering world are hindered from playing out their role in world mission. The fields are WHITE for harvest! Let the whole church take the whole gospel to the whole world! This is the passionate plea that drives the spirit of this book.

TRANSFORMING THEOLOGY: A Theological Basis For Social Transformation:
by
K. Thanzauva: (
2000 ed.    272 pp.    Rs 200.00.    Rs 300.00(HB))

This book is a systematic and serious effort to provide a theological basis for social transformation for theological students and leaders of the church. Crucial topics such as Sociological Approach to social Transformation and Modern Social Teaching of the Church are dealt in the first and second chapters respectively. The author then engages himself in the reconstruction and reinterpretation of some important theological topics such as Methodology, Hermeneutics, Mission, Conversion and Spirituality from the perspective of social transformation. For the author, the traditional understanding of these selected topics has created reservation in the churches or in some cases prevented them from active involvement in the task of social transformation. It is the prayer of the author that readers may be inspired to struggle with conviction for the realization of the Kingdom of God here and now.

TIME AND HISTORY: Biblical and Theological Studies:
by Joseph Pathrapankal:
(2000 ed     254pp    Rs 130.00.)

Jesus of Nazareth inaugurated his earthly ministry with an announcement about the fulfillment of time and nearness of the kingdom of God. He presented this good news as a challenge which all were exhorted to receive through a radical change of their mind and heart (Mk 1:14-15) and start a new way of living in this world. Time and history are the parameters of our human life. The ongoing flow of time is what we call history. Humans are the makers of history and they are also being formed and transformed by history. The church continues the mission of Christ and it is her task to be a sacrament of God's presence in history and in the world and inspire the world through its saving and healing presence.

Paul wrote to the Corinthians: " Now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation" (2 Cor 6:2). What Paul wrote about the meaning of the now as an invitation and challenge, the church must accept as the elan vital of her mission and ministry in the world. A holistic approach to time and history we have in the Bible and it is this salubrious understanding of time and history in the Bible that should be a source on inspiration for all in approaching and celebrating the meaning of time and history. The essays in this Time and History: Biblical and theological Studies, throw light on some of the forgotten dimensions of the reality of time and history and are very relevant for reviving our interest in the understanding of these important biblical concepts.

ACCOMPANYING YOUTH TODAY: An Introduction to Catholic Youth Ministry:
by M. Antony P. Rajan, C.Ss.R. : (
2002 ed.      48 pp.      Rs. 45.00. )

Youth ministry is a special ministry of the Church for a sector that Pope John Paul ll considered "a special treasure" , that is, for the young who comprise the majority of society. Youth is also the critical time in which they set out to develop an identity, find their purpose in life, and establish the values and morals foundational to all their present and future decisions. Keeping this in mind, the Church needs to rise, become a significant and relevant voice, and fulfill the Lord's "great commission" by evangelizing its youth in a way that attracts them to Jesus. It is an opportunity and a challenge. In this sense, it is the author's conviction and experience that the Church can offer to our youth a true meaning of life in this world and the next.

The book Accompanying Youth Today - an Introduction to Catholic Youth Ministry is especially to those who are looking for some effective ways of serving the youth in the Catholic Church. It primarily deals with some salient features of Catholic youth ministry such as the rationale behind Catholic youth ministry, definitions of Catholic youth ministry followed by a brief exploration of some of the key ideas found in the papal teachings of the Church. It also highlights the three important key foundations of Catholic youth ministry, some scriptural insights, principles followed in Catholic youth ministry and some of the essential components relevant to ministry with the youth.

2003 ed.   Rs.375.00.    Deluxe Edition with CD: Rs.495.00.)

The Emerging Electronic Church is a reform - ulation of the PhD dissertation of Dr.John Edappilly, CMI, which has emerged as a basic text in Media and Religion. It provides a scientific basic for communication theology and communication spirituality in the modern world. The rampant upheaval of media explosion in the world of religion is scrupulously scrutinized. The author's incisive insight into the challenges and chances of the Emerging Electronic Church provokes vibrant theological discussions in the ecclesiastical and secular worlds. What will be the form of the emerging electronic church? You need to have a prophetic vision to answer this. This book gives you a powerful tool to help your vision.

The Emerging Electronic Church an award winning study prepared in 1987 by Father John Edappily, CMI, and revised completely after fifteen more years of observation and experience, is designed to offer a pertinent insight into how the electronic media can be and have been used either well or ill in communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ….(Archbishop) John P. Foley, President, Pontificial Commission for Social Communication, Vatican.
The sudden burst of electronic media is a threat and a challenge, not to be shunned but to be faced. In this context, how to combine what Jesus did two thousand years ago and the electronic challenge of media availability of our times? It is here that Dr. John Edappilly the author of this book steps in with his ingeious insights and research experience. John will guide us in this critical and difficult job through his masterly work, The Emerging Electronic Church… Dr. V. F. Vineeth, CMI, Vidyavanam Ashram, Bangalore-560083.

The Eternal Drama of the Cross - This inspiring book, written by one of Christianity's most prolific authors, discusses faith and the vital part it plays in our modern world. Their stories teach us about trust, despair, egotism, power, politics, doubt, love, repentance, and more.

JOURNEY TO CALVARY - Way of the Cross :

by Adolf Washington : ( 2005 ed. 27 pp. Rs. 20.00. )

In every love relationship there is an element of sacrifice. But the love-relationship Christ has with you and me is unique. The sacrifice He has made is unparalleled in human history. He died a humiliating, gruesome death for our sins. From the moment he took up the cross till the moment he was nailed to it he had You and Me in mind. It was God's way of showing His love for us. Its like God saying "I loved the world so much that I loved the world so much that I parted with the best and the only son I have - Jesus."
This "Way of the Cross" should not only help us re-live the experiences Jesus had on his way to Calvary but also help us re-think our relationship with Him.

CREATING A HAPPY FAMILY:
by Fr. Vernon Vaz : (
2005 ed. 151 pp. Rs. 100.00.)

It has been author's endeavor to work towards building stable, effective functional families all over India. Children are important part of every family. The environment that they grow up in, if conductive, will help them to be achievers who know that love alone is the only creative force that has shaped their lives and their destiny. In the course of my ministry it has been encouraging to find that children who grew up amidst positive affirmation and discipline, had a healthy self-image.
When souses love, care for an, trust each other without manipulating or dominating each other, then this conjugal love flows into the lives of their own children. This encourages children to show their love, care and concern and develop a sense of belonging to their own family. They grow to become responsible and mature persons.
The aim of the book is not to spoon-feed readers with solutions because no two situations are alike. Every experience in marriage or parenting has to be tackled differently. This book, though not exhaustive, describes in a simple way marriage, relationships between husband and wife and parents and children, and effective parenting, and grand parenting too. It also throws light on issues that concern interfaith marriages. It is my earnest hope that my readers will benefit from the experience related in this book.

by Eric Lott :
(2005 ed. 419 pp. Rs. 250.00.)

Kiran Sebastian, Professor, Dept. of Theology & Ethics, UTC, Bangalore.

A SHORT HISTORY OF RELIGIOUS LIFE - From the Desert of Egypt to the Oasis of the second Vatican Council:
by Ignatius Puthiadam S.J.: (
2005 ed . 316 pp. Rs. 170.00. )

Nowadays, one can easily find many books written on the History of the Church and on the history of individual religious congregations and orders. But one hardly finds a book written precisely on the history of religious life itself. Fr. Puthiadam has come forward to fill in this vacuum, by writing a book on this topic. Given the state of our libraries, he did not have access to many sources or original works to make an in depth study of the above subject. The present book on hand is the fruit of his study of all available sources. But he has made a deep study of the sources which were available to him.
Fr. Puthiadam begins his work with the affirmation that religious life in the Christian tradition is a product of history, to be situated in the broad perspective of Divine- human interaction like any other church institution. He then meanders through the difficult valley of early church history to see the influences and impact of other philosophical and monastic traditions, prevalent in the early Christian period. The regions of the Middle East were influenced by Eastern philosophical and religious traditions. The author examines these traditions because monasticism was also a part of the religious life of those days. After examining these influences he concludes with the statement that Christian religious life is, in the final analysis, rooted and grounded in the person of Jesus Christ, in his life and message and in his death and resurrection which form the bed rock of Christian faith.

SPIRITUALITY FOR OUR TIMES - With insights from Vatican II & John Paul II:
by Thomas J. Parayidom: Spirituality
(2004 ed. 234 pp. Rs. 150.00. )

For Our Times is a much-awaited work. This book, which is against abstract theologising, gives concrete suggestions to develop a truly Christian spirituality in the contemporary 'postmodern' and 'post-Christian' era. It inspires the readers to check how they live their faith in today's socio-cultural context. Occasional references to the teachings of Vatican II and Pope II, in addition to so many other books and articles, makes this work truly beautiful, scientific and reliable. Where traditional concepts of spirituality become dysfunctional, a book like this is really a guiding light. 2005 ed. 206 pp. Rs. 100. 00.ASIAN FACES OF CHRIST - OTC Theological Colloquium : Edited by Vimal Tirimanna, C.SS.R.: Asia is not only the geographically biggest continent but is also the continent which holds almost two thirds of all humanity. Asia is also the cradle of all the major religions of the world, and the home to many rich ancient cultures and civilizations. The diversity of Asia naturally calls for a plurality of understanding / perceptions of reality, from the point of view of her different peoples, religions and cultures. As such, there is surely a diversity of understanding / perceptions of who Jesus is, to diverse people of Asia. This is nothing new for even within the early Church, there was a plurality of understanding / perceptions early diverse Christian communities. That is way so many gospels or life stories of Jesus were written in the early Christian era. The four gospels that have entered the Canon of Scripture are a living witness within the Church to this plurality of understanding / perceptions of this unique person. God-made-man, Jesus Christ. In the same way, there is in the Asian Churches a rich heritage of different understanding / perceptions of Jesus, based of course on the unique experiences those people have had with this unique person at different places and during different epochs. However, it is also true that every such understanding / perceptions or even interpretation of Jesus Christ in Asian is not in harmony with the understanding / perceptions or interpretations of the living Apostolic Tradition of the Church. Moreover, the very diversity of Asian peoples has made it hard to encapsulate the person of Jesus in this or that single human-made category. For example, the proclamations to be traditional Christian belief that Jesus Christ is the only Saviour of the world is not without difficulty when it comes to the vast, diverse continent of Asia. This is precisely what Pope John Paul II acknowledges in his post-synode Apostolic Exhortation Ecclesia in Asia It is in this sense that the Office of Theologica: Concerns (OTC) of the Federation of Asian Bishop's Conferences (FABC) undertook to hold a theological Colloquium on Asian Christology, to share and understand what Jesus Christ means to different faith communities in Asia. The three main purposes of this Colloquium were:
· To make an effort to contribute theologically, from an Asian point of view, to
enhance what the Holy Father says in Ecclesia in Asia (with regard to the
relevant paragraphs which are quoted above.
· To encourage and stimulate further research not his theme so that the Asian church may benefit in their proclamation of Jesus Christ in Asia.
· To bring together bishops and theologians who are involved in teaching and theological research in the field of Christology in Asia.
Since this colloquium was such a rich exchange of views the OTC decide to bring out the proceedings of the entire Colloquium in the form of a book so that the Church, in general, and the bishops, theologians, pastors, and the entire people of God in Asia, in particular, may benefit from the results of this important Colloquium on Asian Christology. This book surely is not the final word about the crucial theological issues raised therein, but in it succeeds in initiating, discussion that would lead to further theological reflection and research.

JOHN'S SUNDAY HOMILIES (Cycle - B) - Illustrated with Stories, Verse & Anecdotes:
by John Rose: (
2005 ed. 253 pp. Rs. 130.00.)

"The knight of faith," said Kierkegaard, "is able to express the Sublime in the pedestrian absolutely." The homilies in this volume are the humble efforts of the author to express the Sublime in the pedestrian language. To make the homilies interesting, illustrative and prosaic, the author has commenced every homily with an appropriate story or an anecdote. The themes for the homilies have been gleaned from the Sunday Gospel readings, and later developed into three or four points. These homilies could either be preached in toto, or any one of the points could be developed with additional insights and illustrations. The subjects contained in this volume have been an unfailing source of joy and comfort, of instruction and guidance, of strength and healing to the author. The author fervently prays that this book may be used by God to lead, all those who peruse it, towards Him who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

THE BOOK OF EXODUS & DALIT LIBERATION - With reference to Minjung theology:
by D. Manohar Chandra Prasad :
( 2005 ed. 130 pp. Rs. 80.00 )

D. Manohar Chandra Prasad ordained priest of Church of South India. He is a Dalit activist and a scholar. He is the author of numerous books in English and Kannada in the area of Dalit Liberation. The Search for Dalit Liberation and dignity is a long, arduous and difficult struggle. In such a struggle the challenges and insights from a variety of disciplines, and the contribution of committed activist must come together and offer a potent mixture of analysis, reflection and action, in order to actualize the aspirations of Dalit communities. In Rev. Manohar Chandra Prasad the Christian community and the wider society has found an activist-Theologian, whose long years of struggle at the grass root, wide reading now come together in this book which re-reads the ancient dreams of longing for liberation and translates these insights in the context of 21 st century Asian realities, especially the realities of the Minjung and Dalits. This book brings into creative and critical ferment, the deep desire for liberation of an ancient people, along with the cries for justice of people who are clamouring to be heard today-those whose cries cannot to stifled or ignored, but those whose demands have to be heard, especially since they appeal to the God who actualize justice for the most vulnerable. ……….. ST. FRANCIS DE SALES & THE BIBLE:
by Anthony R. Ceresko, O.S.F.S:
( 2005 ed. 192 pp. Rs. 140.00 )

This adaptation of the Song of Song 8: 6 by Sr. Leonor de la Santa, FMM, highlights the beauty and evocative power of the image in this verse. St. Francis de Sales quoted from the Song of Songs more often than from any other book in the Bible. And this verse, Song of Songs 8: 6, was one of his favorites. Francis was so thoroughly grounded in the biblical tradition and immersed in its text that he was able to make free use of its words and images to express his own insights and teachings on theology and the spiritual life. The nine articles of Fr. Anthony R. Ceresko, O.S.F.S, collected in this volume study the writings and doctrine of Francis, and most of the articles examine in particular the relationship of Francis' work to the Bible. Further, Fr. Ceresko employs approaches developed in the modern study of the Bible to uncover the relevance for readers today of the teachings of this great saint.

TRENDS IN INDIAN THEOLOGY:
by Kuncheria Pathil: (
2005 ed. 177 pp. Rs. 75.00 )

Theologizing is the ongoing dialogue and creative encounter between the Gospel or Christian message and the new realities of the time … In the early centuries of Christianity, when the Gospel encountered new peoples and cultures, it assumed new cultural, social and historical forms and patterns through an 'incarnational process'. Thus when Christianity encountered the Romans, the Greeks and the Syrians, it became Roman, Greek and Syrian respectively by a spiritual, cultural and social osmosis. Did this process take place in India at different times in the history of India ? For the creation of an authentic Indian theology and an authentic Church, "fully Indian and authentically Christian", the Gospel of Jesus Christ should meet the Indian people, their culture, ethos and genius from within and a creative encounter should take place.

TOWARDS AN ASIAN ECCLESIOLOGY:
by James Thoppil:
( 2005 ed. 384 pp. Rs. 250.00 (HB) )

Towards an Asian Ecclesiology is an excellent and lucid summary of the emerging ecclesiology developed by the FABC during the last thirty years in the context of religions, cultures and poverty. The ecclesiology developed by FABC is a contextual ecclesiology. The Church in Asia understands itself as a communion of communities, unlike the pre-Vatican II ecclesiology which tended to be exclusivist. The book strikes a balanced note between the ecclesiologies developed by theologians and the ecclesiology of Vatican II. In the process the book reinterprets the mission of the Church in Asia. It is a very good source book for those seeking to know the theological trends and developments in Asia during the post-Vatican II decades. This is a valuable contribution to theological literature in Asia.

SUBALTERN PERSPECTIVES - Philosophizing in Context: Paper Presented at the ACPI Annual Meeting Held at Holy Trinity Regional Seminary, Jalandhar 22 - 25 October 2004:
Edited by George
( 2005 ed. 305 pp. Rs. 100.00 )

Thadathil: The emergence of the subaltern in the project of history writing is a well-documented event and one will get more than one description of it from the Contributions in this volume. However it is good to note that the concern with subaltern philosophy has a Christian root that predates the subaltern historiography project. The mere fact that more than sixty percent of Christian population comes from this group itself speaks for the Christian concern with and for the subaltern. The venture to philosophize from subaltern perspectives is an effort to affirm the constitutive character of the Christian community in India. In this sense subaltern philosophy is equally a cultural as well as religious project. It is cultural for it intends to transform the inequality prevalent with the dominant culture as theoretical construct as well as a deeply ingrained praxis. It is a religious project for the essence of religion if seen as liberationary praxis - whether intellectual or altruist in nature - intends to reshape society and in doing so assumes a religious character. The subaltern history project with its growing corpus of writings has been faulted as yet another bourgeois project on behalf of the subaltern. A similar indictment would fall on the current enterprise were it not to keep alive the razor's edge discernment of the subaltern speaking in and through the literary expressions in this work.

WHERE WILL EAST & WEST MEET? - A Reflection on early Indian & Greek Philosophies on world, God & Man:
by Werner Chakkalakal CMI: (
2005 ed. 141 pp. Rs. 100.00 )

"It is obvious that Faith as a human phenomenon needs to be expressed as Religion", in order that the Faith may reach all people of all times, and achieve its realization on earth as the Kingdom of God, and in the Final Glory of the Children of God. That means, until humanity reaches its final realization, any social reality, even if divinely established, must necessarily be liable to human shortcoming. Not to accept that means not accepting God's Plan of creation and indulging in human fancies and wanting to give counsel to God. Instead of pointing fingers at others and at Institutions, we have to ask, ourselves what each one is doing to realize God's Plan. As St. Augustine has said: "God who created us without us, cannot save us without us."

MICHELANGELO AND THE HUMAN DIGNITY - An Anthropolgical Reading of the Sistine Frescoes:
by Kleetus K. Varghese:
( 2005 ed. 357 pp. Rs. 200.00 )

The anthropplogy of Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475 - 1564) is studied with a special reference to his frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, both on the Ceiling (1508 - 1512) and on the altar wall: The Last Judgement (1536 - 1541). The analyses of the frescoes were done with the help of the Florentine Neo-Platonic philosophy, which is the philosophical background of Michelangelo. The Neo-Platonic concepts such as the ascension, hierarchical structure, concept of beauty, and the image-likeness of God are evident in all the basic works of Michelangelo, especially in the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel, which are studied in this work.

PILGRIMS ON THE SEASHORE OF ENDLESS WORLDS (Revised Edition):
by Albert Nambiaparambil, CMI: (
2005 ed. 197 pp. Rs. 125.00 )

"Pilgrims on the Seashore of endless worlds" is a spiritual protest against dividing people in the name of religion. It is a call to dismantle the walls of division erected by those who wish to retain religion as a playground of communalism and religious obscurantism. The author quotes the words of the distinguished Malayalam poet, G. Sankara Kurup: "Once I lived near the temple and woke up to the bells of the temple. Now I live close to this church and wake up to the bells of the church. Bells are different but the tune, the music is the same". In this book Fr. Nambiaparambil takes one beyond the bells rung by human hands, so that one may hear the liberating song of the divine. He urges one to dare to discover the eternal truth: all are the children of God. Like Swami Vivekananda, Fr,. Nambiaparambil too is an enemy of small-mindedness. One are like frogs that absolutize the merits of one's little wells because one are strangers to the scope and space of the sea. Spirituality is a called to openness and humility, it is the grace to dream of the sea, even as one live in one's wells. It is also a deep longing to be united with one's fellow-frogs, so that together one may claim the sea that span one's shared destiny. But, going by one's experience so far in the sphere of inter-faith dialogue, it is doubtful if this spiritual revolution could be effected through a sharing of each other's liturgies and theologies. Organized religion can never be wholly free from the forces of division and exploitation. The need of the hour is a shift from religion to spirituality. Religion divides, spirituality unites. Spirituality is the outbreak of truth, the sunrise of justice. One's oneness as the children of God shall remain an elusive goal, so long as one is not passionately committed to the spiritual goal of creating a society of justice and righteousness. The hazardous adventure of making this world confirm to the will of God who sorrows over the giant agony of the world.

'GOING TO THE ROOTS' - A Multi-Disciplinary Study: Edited
by Johnson J. Puthenpurackal : (
2005 ed. 361 pp. Rs. 200.00 )

It is a concerted effort to keep on going to the depth, carried out by competent scholars in different disciplines of knowledge. The inspiration for this book is the 'going to the roots' by a philologist, Dr. K. Luke. As philology is both 'love for the word' (Philia + logos) and 'science of languages,' his 'going-to-the-roots' has been kindled by his love for the primordial Word, and knowledge of languages - a response with love and knowledge, will and intellect. Taking inspiration from such a response of philological thinking to the roots, this volume tries to give a corresponding response - a response along the lines of 'going to the roots'. Such a thinking (Denken) in response to a thinking to the roots is a 'thanking' that is echoed in this volume is a response of thinking for the soundless speaking of the Word - through the Scriptures in different relgions, through the thoughts of creative thinkers, through the many a historical 'event-ing' (Ereignis) …. All this presupposes a truly philological disposition - philo - logy: love of word, learning, language, literature, wisdom, …. We need, hence, a foundational thinking, a 'going to the roots,' an uncontaminated primordiality of approach to reality, whence will hopefully emerge a new dawn! .

THE APOCALYPSE (Revised Edition) - An Introductory Commentary:
by Michael Fallon, MSC: (
2005 ed. 131 pp. Rs. 100.00 )

The Apocalypes is a dramatic and richly symbolic manidesto of the ultimate victory of love, of the values of Christ over against the oppression of the Roman state at the close of the first century. Modern attempts to identify current events in its pages are misguided, for the aim of its author was to help his contemporaries see the events of their own day in the light of faith, not to offer them tantalizing images of future events which could have no relevance for them. Though our situation today differs in many respects from that of the first readers of this book, and though the author had no interest in possible future events, his message remains relevant for us today. The Apocalypse is a clarion call to persevere in our attachment to Christ and so to God, and to locate, to name, and to condemn those elements within our own social, economic and political systems which are responsible for injustices similar to those against which John is speaking. The Christian community is to be the radiant manifestation in this world of the active presence of the exalted Christ drawing all people to himself. From the middle of the struggle in which we are all involved, there rises the cry: 'Come, Lord Jesus' (22: 20). It is this intense longing in the hearts of the disciples of Jesus and the accompanying determination to be faithful to his inspiration that energises our commitment to be instruments of God's liberating love, a love that is 'stronger than death'.

COME LET US CELEBRATE (Seventh Edition):
Edited by I. Puthiadam S.J : (
2005 ed. 335 pp. Rs. 80.00 )

In this book reflections or prayerful meditations are offered on all important Christian, National, Hindu and Muslim feasts. Some of the reflections are based on texts from the Bible. In the explanation of the texts an effort has been made to take into consideration the recent development in biblical studies and make the message of the texts actual to the people. Other reflections and meditations are theme-centred. The message of the feast, the mystery that is celebrated in the feast, is explained. In most instances the message of a feast is brought out in the form of a meditative prayer because preaching is more a communitarian reflection and prayer than an open discourse. All these approaches will prove useful to our preachers. The section on non-Christian feasts can be used in community prayer services, for reflection and study. It has already been noted that the reflections on the non-Christian feasts are made in the light of Christ and his paschal mystery. In them you will find genuine effort to enter into dialogue with our national aspirations and the religious experience of the non-Christian brothers of our country. An earnest attempt has been made to respond to the challenge of II Vatican Council. The bulk of work. Chiefly editing, was done by an editorial board consisting of : Frs. J. Gillon, S.J.; J. Thayil, S.J.; and Ignatius Puthiadam, S.J.
